A Pharmacy Gift

Elderly Husband and Wife Hugging

Have you had to buy a prescription lately? Depending on your insurance and what type of drug you have to get, it’s expensive!

Back in 2012, Hody, a farmer and US Air Force veteran, walked into a drug store in Alabama and got to talking to his old friend, the pharmacist. He found out there were people living in his neighborhood who were not filling their prescriptions because they simply couldn’t afford them.

The truth is, there are people in all of our neighborhoods in the same situation.

Hody said, “Here, this $100 is for anyone who can’t afford their prescription. Do not tell a soul that the money came from me. Tell them it’s a blessing from God.” A month later, Hody did the same thing. He did that same thing every month… until recently.

Hody recently turned 80 and had been having some trouble getting around. So, he entrusted the task to his daughter, Tania.

Tania said, “I was shocked! I had no idea that he was helping people at the drug store. He told me he’d been carrying a $100 bill to the pharmacist on the first of each month, and he didn’t want to know who he’d helped with it. He just wanted to bless people with it.”

Hody passed away on New Years Day. Now that word has leaked out, family and friends are paying it forward, keeping the pharmacy fund going. “There are so many people around here who have lived longer because of Hody,” the pharmacist said. “Hody was a true humble servant who will always be loved.”
