Angry Emails

Before you send every email, but especially the angry ones, do these 2 things:

  1. STOP. It is so easy to fire off an email you will regret. Even if you are not angry, stop and re-read the email.
  2. As you re-read you email, ask yourself “What is the INTENT of the email?” Is it just to express your anger? It’s probably not a good idea to email it. Does it express your anger at the expense of the intent of the email? If it’s not about anger, did you focus on the intent of what you want to say? Often we send emails that are streams of thoughts rather than intentional emails that deal with substance.
