Social Media Scamming

How many scam calls have you gotten just this week? They’re impossible to avoid, even if you do have “Scam Call Blockage” on your phone.

Aside from calling you, there’s another tactic the scammers have. They’re trying to hack your social media account. It might not seem like that big of a deal if your social media account gets hacked, but to some small businesses, that’s their lifeline to income!

A lot of businesses THRIVE off of social media. A small business owner here in Jacksonville made a post on Instagram that got over 1 Million views and went viral. Next thing you know, she was getting order requests for her products left and right!

Then, Meta (Facebook’s new name) messaged her and said that the video she posted contained Copyright Infringement. They sent a long message with a lot of information and at the end their was a link she needed to click. She clicked it and BAM. Her account was hacked!

Hackers are getting smarter and smarter! Here’s the link to the full story AND the message she got that was a fake, so you can be on the lookout, too. https://www.news4jax.com/news/local/2023/06/05/one-click-caused-small-business-owners-to-lose-instagram-accounts-to-scammer/
