King James…he’s a lifesaver!

News is breaking that NBA star Lebron James saved a man from drowning at the beach.  Not seeking any glory, at the time he didn’t tell anyone.  Recently Gabrielle Union, who is married to fellow basketballer and best friend Dewayne Wade, told the media their families were vacationing together in The Bahamas a few years ago.  James noticed a man struggling in the ocean, jumped in the water and saved the man’s life.  A new nickname for King James is already being floated (free pun).  Aqua-Man!

Dr. Martin Luther King’s legacy to be passed down to the Hip Hop generation

The organization once led by civil rights icon, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., wants to reach a new generation with Hip Hop music. The Atlanta based Southern Christian Leadership Conference has officially announced they are launching a Hip Hop record label with artists who are committed to producing music with messages that will uplift, inspire and encourage young people to become engaged in social justice causes.  The record label, The Justice HipHop Music Project, is scheduled to launch next summer.

Dr. King,  took the helm of the SCLC while only in his 20s.  He later became the youngest person ever to win a Global Peace Prize in 1964 at the age of 35. Officials say the new label is a strategy for the SCLC to expand its youth and young adults’ division, banking on HipHop music and entertainment to attract more Gen Xers and Millennials to the movement.

Warning to parents on temporary tattoos.

Henna tattoos are popular with kids because they fade away after a few days.  You need to be careful though.  Some people have experienced scarring from temporary tattoos, making them permanent. We did some digging and it seems a big factor is the color of the ink.  If its done with black ink that contains a substance called paraphenylenediamine, it can leave a scar in the shape of the tattoo.   If you ever get a Henna tattoo, make sure it’s done with plant based natural brown henna.

Learn more about it here.  http://www.kctv5.com/story/24817733/temporary-tattoos-could-cause-permanent-scarring
