Python Hunter

A Florida python hunter has made history by capturing the second-heaviest Burmese python ever recorded in the state.

Professional hunter Carl Jackson wrestled the massive snake, which tipped the scales at an incredible 202 pounds.

The 16-foot, 10-inch reptile put up a serious fight, dragging Jackson about 15 feet over red ant hills in the Everglades before he could subdue it.

Jackson described the intense struggle by saying, “It was like riding a slow horse… It was insane.”

To make the catch even more dramatic, the snake coiled around Jackson’s body, forcing his wife and children to jump in and help uncoil it.

This catch was crucial for local wildlife conservation, as the invasive predator was found carrying 200 eggs.

Jackson highlighted the importance of the removal, noting, “That means more to me because that is 200 potential deer and native animal eaters.”

The current state record for a Burmese python remains just slightly larger at 215 pounds, caught back in 2022.
